by fostering a dialogue with our interior, we have a tremendous ability to move energy. we can encourage growth, lean into physical and emotional health, stay present through difficulties and pain, stay present through joy and pleasure, connect to others with more honesty, & deepen our capacity to show up for our community & our world… the sessions I offer are one (of many) ways into this work.

i define ritual as a practice of listening to what is going on within, and responding with intuitive, symbolic action.
i believe this practice speaks to a human need, and touches our non-intellectual, non-verbal ways of knowing.
a ritual can be any action, ceremony or visualization that holds meaning, and is performed with intention and investment. it is a way of communicating with our whole self - including the unconscious.some principles:
ritual takes place - whether in this realm or the imaginal
ritual touches things that intellect cannot touch
ritual helps us practice courage, attunement, and self-trust
ritual reconnects us with impulse and creativity
ritual is a way to petition the self for change, understanding, healing, closure
ritual is a way to acknowledge - whether we’re acknowledging grief, celebration, change, loss, or growth.
-
i define tarot as a practice of reflection and listening, that allows us to pull information from just beyond our conscious edge. we can think of this as information from our whole self, to our conscious self - guidance that is aligned to support our growth and ready to be witnessed.
consulting the tarot might help us…
witness and name what we’re feeling
clarify a need, desire, boundary
recenter our values & how we live them
locate agency, self-consent
unpack misaligned beliefs, narratives, identities
support parts of us that are trying to evolve

reiki is one form of energy healing, stewarded by Dr. Mikao Usui during the late 1800s / early 1900s, Japan.
it can be practiced in response to any form of pain, stress, or challenge - be it physical, mental, emotional, spiritual...
reiki uses the practice of laying/hovering hands, to draw life-force energy into the body and soul of the recipient. life force energy is intelligent and self-directed - we merely invite it in and leave the healing to your body, higher self, and the reiki.
receiving reiki can feel like…
a deep, relaxing rest
tingling, electricity, warmth, or energy in the body
release of energy, gas, emotion, stagnancy, tension
a shift in physical symptoms
an influx of visuals and dreamy imagery
a sense of guidance, support, or presence
uncovering an emotion or knowing
being held in deep care
reconnecting to life, yourself, earth
there are no limits or absolutes about what reiki will feel like. it can be subtle, intense, or somewhere in between - and it can be different each time.
-
the ethos of this work is…
to support people who have learned not to trust themselves - but have every reason to trust themselves - reapproach spirituality & intuitive power
to be there with the sadness, the resistance, the grief, the unexplainable, the trauma imprint, the wounds which are still weeping
to advocate for the power & purpose of desire
to believe in the possibility of aligning our lives with our deepest values
to provide containers where folks can witness their own revelations & wisdom
to show one another that magic is real and that it can re-associate things - within and around us. it can return pieces, channels, and relationships from fracture to interconnection. it can ripple out far.to stand by the truth that healing is deeply connected work. that we belong, and are a part of one another.
to witness together the potency of spiritual/emotional/somatic work - it’s ability to transform us and (thus) our world.

In this beautiful piece about sliding scale, Alexis J. Cunningfolk shares a distinction between hardship & sacrifice that I find helpful when considering what to pay on the sliding scale:
“Recently, someone shared with me the idea of sacrifice versus hardship when examining access. If paying for a class, product, or service would be difficult, but not detrimental, it qualifies as a sacrifice. You might have to cut back on other spending in your life (such as going out to dinner, buying coffee, or a new outfit), but this will not have a long term harmful impact on your life. It is a sacred sacrifice in order to pursue something you are called to do. If, however, paying for a class, product, or service would lead to a harmful impact on your life, such as not being able to put food on the table, pay rent, or pay for your transportation to get to work, then you are dealing with hardship. Folks coming from a space of hardship typically qualify for the lower end of the sliding scale.”
how do individual sessions work?
Sessions are…
remote via phone or zoom, or in person (chatham, ny)
can be occasional, regular, or one-time experiences
collaborative in nature (rather than prescriptive)
might include discussion, guided meditations, somatic practices, pulling cards, or energy work
full sessions are between 70 and 90 minutes ($75-200)
half sessions are between 30-45 minutes ($60-100)
sessions can utilize any / all of my modalities, reiki, tarot, ritual, somatic boundaries & consent. we work with the modalities you are interested in and comfortable with (there’s space on the booking form to let me know which!)
how do distance reiki work?
distance reiki…
takes place remotely (you in your space / me in mine)
we can meet synchronously on zoom, or meet asynchronously
if you desire an entirely async session, i recommend purchasing a half-session & specifying that you’d like asynchronous energy work. i will send the reiki at our scheduled time, and you can receive it whenever you’re ready. you’ll need 40 mins to lay down, and a few minutes afterward to process what you experience. includes a voice-memo/email to share any imagery or messages that came through during our session
reiki can be practiced on living things, and "non-living" things... situations, objects, physical spaces, plants, pets, people...
if you are new to reiki we'll begin our first session with a chat about what to expect / how it works, and address any questions you have.
do you do in-person sessions?
yep! I am happy to offer in-person sessions at my studio in Chatham, NY.
please email me at veils.submit@gmail.com to double check my availability before booking.
can i gift a session?
absolutely - giftcards for sessions are available here.
gifted sessions are redeemable within one year of purchase.
recurring sessions…
i keep 4 spots available for weekly clients, and 6 spots available for monthly clients.
currently, i have availability for both.
if that piques your interest, let’s meet for a free consultation - book here
my practice, tools and lineage…
this work is grounded in my own practice of ritual, tarot, ancestor work and witchcraft.
though i’m a huge advocate for intuitive & embodied learning (as an alternative to academic/institutional learning), working this way requires a deep commitment to honesty, and ongoing attunement to my place in all of this historic and contemporary practice. spiritual work must defer to an underlying compass of respect, responsibility, listening, adaptability and accountability… those tenants are the larger body to which every river runs.
i approached witchcraft and ritual through the initial avenue of jungian dreamwork, and artmaking - including tattoo, performance art, and textiles. i first found my footing in magic via ancestor work (communicating with / healing with ancestral spirits), and from there, found my living peers, communities and teachers. the ritual and somatic work i do also taps into to my history and training (and trauma) in dance.
my familial lineages are from the Southern side of Sicily (in part diasporic of the larger Mediterranean and S.w.a.n.a. region); from Germany, Belgium, and parts of the UK. i was born and raised on unceded territory of the Tohono O’odham Nation and Pascua Yaqui Tribe. a huge part of my practice has been locating, healing, and working with these lineages - which includes the cultural, ethnic, and magical identities therein… and the trauma patterns, violence, and colonization inflicted by & inflicted on my familial root lines. the lifelong work of tangible repair, disentanglement from harmful belief systems, and the dissolution of systems of oppression is inseparable from remembering the ceremonies and magic that are held in my body’s deep memory.
as a trans non-binary & queer person, i also see my magic as a part of queer lineage… ritual and ceremony have been enormous players in the process of coming-to, understanding my dreams within sexuality and gender, and locating my limitlessness. nearly all of the teachers and practitioners who have helped me learn are queer, and they have guided my belonging and responsibility within this enormous history (known and unknown.)

Some of the tools that I work with in my own practice:
Tarot // ritual
reiki // energy healing practice, stewarded by Mikao usui, that can be done hands-on or distance
somatic boundaries and consent // tools for finding our boundaries, sharing them, understanding our internal cues, working with boundaries and cues of others, developing our yes and our no, and working with the needs of our nervous system
Ancestors, spirits & mediumship // calling in spirits as guidance, speaking with loved ones passed, reconnecting cultural roots, and ancestral lineage healing.
Spells and Witchcraft// words, fruit, food, burying, burning or washing, symbolic objects, baths, working with herbs externally...
Movement and Artwork// drawing, dancing, singing, painting, textiles...
Visualization // these can be incredibly helpful when a ritual requires utmost privacy, or an environment that isn't physically available
Space & Environment // home space, work space, flow, stations, altars, creative choices within limits of reality
Adornment // this feels like an especially sweet crossover between witchcraft and genderqueerness ~ adornment is a very effective and potent tool in my personal practice.
BodyTalk Access // a basic somatic practice that can support the body in (re)harmonizing our emotional/spiritual/physical systems.
responsibility, safety and privacy…
REsponsibility
i use gender-expansive language - i’m genderqueer and that’s how i like my magic.
disability justice and racial justice are an integral values in my practice. I am committed to decentering whiteness and ableism as norms or ideals - particularly in terms of how we [collectively] define health, wellness, ‘success’ & spirituality. all justice is interconnected - but these two strands in particular, have been potent guides for how I devise & practice emotional magic with others. I understand this relationship is not a static one… but an ongoing embrace of change, intimacy, failure, honesty, self-compassion and accountability.
when we’re working with ritual, i will never encourage or suggest culturally appropriative practices. each person has a path to draw from. we work with ceremonies and tools that feel aligned for you and keep us both in integrity with ourselves and our world. we do this by listening deeply and honestly - to our bodies, our hearts, the materials we are engaging with, and the communities who steward them. we don’t bypass or ignore feelings of misalignment.
safety
In order for us both to feel supported it's important that it be a space of equal agency. I maintain the right to end the session at any moment if I feel unsafe. You maintain the right to end the session at any moment if you feel unsafe. We both maintain the right to express our needs at all times.
It can be challenging and intense to journey into ourselves and draw information out/up. If you are concerned about your emotional safety, please share that with me before we meet (there is a space for this information on my booking form) and let's discuss what measures you need to take in order to enter into this practice with support close at hand. It is absolutely my priority that everyone be safe and held by appropriate structures so that this work can be grounding, rather than destabilizing.
privacy
the container I'm providing is completely private. I will never share your information or identity without your expressed (written) permission to do so.
